Bitnodes estimates the relative size of the Bitcoin peer-to-peer network by finding all of its reachable nodes.

This page reports 24-hour network metrics and statistics for Bitcoin DNS seeders. Bitcoin nodes join the Bitcoin peer-to-peer network by initially making outgoing connections to peers announced by these seeders via A (IPv4) and AAAA (IPv6) DNS records, so it is important that they maintain high availability to allow new Bitcoin nodes to bootstrap reliably. The list of DNS seeders used in the reference implementation is available from GitHub.

TERMINOLOGY

IPv4 RTT90th percentile round-trip time (in milliseconds) to fetch A record containing a list of IPv4 peers from the DNS seeder.
IPv6 RTT90th percentile round-trip time (in milliseconds) to fetch AAAA record containing a list of IPv6 peers from the DNS seeder.
TTL90th percentile duration (in seconds) during which A record from the DNS seeder remain unchanged.
Service prefixesHex prefix, e.g. x1, placed at the start of DNS seeder's hostname, e.g. x1.seed.bitnodes.io, to tell the seeder which service bits a peer must support to be included in the A/AAAA record.

Join the Network

Be part of the Bitcoin network by running a Bitcoin full node, e.g. Bitcoin Core.

Use this tool to check if your Bitcoin client is currently accepting incoming connections from other nodes. Port must be between 1024 and 65535.
